ABSTRACT

This paper attempts a brief factual presentation of data and base line information on the main features of marine small-scale fisheries in Andhra Pradesh.

It may serve as an introduction to the subject, leading to deeper studies; as a source of general information; or as a background document for use in discussions on planning and programming of development assistance.

The paper revises and updates an April 1978 document issued by the FAO/UNDP Project for Development of Small-Scale Fisheries in South West Asia, RAS/74/031. That document was partly financed by the preparatory phase of the FAO/SIDA Bay of Bengal Programme.

This document has been prepared in cooperation with the Directorate of Fisheries, Andhra Pradesh. It is a working paper and has not been officially cleared by the Government or the FAO.
